High Holy Days

Please join us for the Days of Awe and related observances, beginning with Selichot on Saturday, September 16, 2017, through Simchat Torah on Friday, October 13, 2017

The 2017 (5777-5778) High Holy Days schedule is posted below.

Services requiring a High Holy Days ticket are marked with an asterisk (*).

Tickets are now available for purchase at this link; current Bet Haverim partners in good standing will receive tickets via U.S. Mail during the week of September 11.

 

Pricing for non-partner ticket purchases is a follows:

  • Adults under age 65 = $180 per person
  • Senior citizens age 65+ = $36 per person
  • University students (student ID required), active military members (military ID required) and visitors from Israel are eligible for complimentary tickets
  • Reciprocal tickets may be available to members in good standing of other Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) congregations.  Please contact office@bethaverim.org or 530-758-0842 for more information

 

To obtain tickets, please visit www.bethaverim.org/worship/hhdtickets2017.  Visa, MasterCard or PayPal may be used to make any payment due.  Or, after Friday, September 1, visit or send a request to the office at 1715 Anderson Road, Davis, CA 95616 to pay using cash or check.  Office hours are Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and Fridays 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Children's Programming is available for a fee during some High Holy Day services and events. Click here for details and a registration form. Additionally, FREE Children's services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Days also will be offered (see schedule below), as well as a FREE Young Families' Erev Rosh Hashanah Service (click here for information about this service).

The deadline now has passed to submit names for the annual Yizkor Booklet to be distributed at the Yom Kippur Yizkor Service.

Saturday, September 16

  • Communal Ritual of New Beginnings, 7:15 p.m., Redwood Grove
  • *Our Traditional Service, 7:30 p.m., Sanctuary, with Rabbi Greg Wolfe
  • *Tefillah Hadashah:  Contemporary Reform Service, 7:30 p.m., Social Hall, with Student Rabbi David Aladjem and Student Cantor Shayndel Adler-Eldridge

 

First Day - Thursday, September 21

  • Children's Services with Student Cantor Shayndel Adler-Eldridge, ages 2-5 - 9:15 - 9:45 a.m., Gan Haverim classroom; ages 6-10 - 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., North Classroom

  • *Tefillah Hadashah:  Contemporary Reform Service, 7:00 p.m., Social Hall, with Student Rabbi David Aladjem and Student Cantor Shayndel Adler-Eldridge

 

Yom Kippur Day - Saturday, September 30

    • *Our Traditional Service, 8:00 a.m., Sanctuary, with Student Rabbi David Aladjem.  Shacharit Service, 8:30 a.m., Torah/Haftarah, 9:30 a.m., Sermon, 10:45 a.m., Yizkor Service, 11:00 a.m., Musaf Service, 11:30 a.m.
    • *Contemporary Reform Service, 9:00 a.m., Social Hall, with Rabbi Greg Wolfe.  This service moves to join the Traditional Service in Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. for Yizkor, followed by Musaf.
    • Children's Services with Student Cantor Shayndel Adler-Eldridge, ages 2-5 - 9:15 - 9:45 a.m., Gan Haverim classroom; ages 6-10 - 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., North Classroom

Service experiences for both holidays will be supplemented by the talents of Dan Tennenbaum and Leah Julian in the Social Hall, and Rebecca Plack, Ernie Biberstein, Ken Firestein, Virginia Lantry and Hallie Morrow in the Sanctuary.

 

SUKKOT

Friday, October 6: Family Sukkot Celebration

      • Haverim K'tanim Sukkah Decoration Making, 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. (see details here)
      • Vegetarian Potluck Dinner in the Sukkah, 5:30 p.m.
      • Family Service, including the 4th grade Religious School class, 6:10 p.m., Sanctuary

 

Saturday, October 7: Yizkor Service (during Shabbat Morning Service), 10:00 a.m., Sanctuary

 

SIMCHAT TORAH/CONSECRATION

Friday, October 13: all are encouraged to come to rejoice with the Torah!  Dancing to the music of the Davis Klezmer Band

      • Family Celebration/Consecration, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., Sanctuary
