The Reggio Philosophy
The Reggio Emilia approach began in 1945 in
a small northern Italian village with big dreams for its children.
Gan Haverim Preschool is based upon
the benefits of integrating the Reggio Emilia approach into children’s
routines, and that home, school, and community form a village in which
learning and exploration are seamless.
The Reggio Emilia philosophical approach to
preschool consists of these primary elements:
- Belief that children have the natural
ability to construct their own knowledge
- Lessons based upon teachers’
observations of children and their interests
- Encouragement and support as children
learn by experimentation and exploration
- Use of play, art, drama, song,
storytelling and dancing to discover the “100 languages of
children,” fully expressing children’s human potential
