About Our
Staff

Hello, I’m Nina.
I studied Human Development and
Psychology at UCDavis. I have worked with young children as a teacher
for a total of 18 years.
I started working at Gan Haverim
in October of 2007. The families, teachers and Bet Haverim staff were so
welcoming. I immediately felt like this is the right place for me to be.
Even with new families and new teachers, that feeling has not changed.
I am married to my husband of 12
years, Bob, who works at UCDavis and we have 2 children ages 11 and 6.
They both go to Cesar Chavez Elementary school.
I enjoy singing, reading and
exploring new ways of doing art projects with young children.
Nina is a full-time teacher
in the classroom.
My name is Shahar and I’m an
Israeli, currently living in Davis.
I’m a mother of two children; my
daughter attended Gan Haverim when we first moved to Davis and my son is
currently attending Gan Haverim.
I enjoy working with the kids on
some Hebrew songs and short stories and teaching them the Jewish
holidays. I try to bring to the classroom a little bit of Israeli
traditions as I’ve come to know them from growing up in Israel and being
a teacher there for 10 years.
Shahar is a full-time teacher
in the classroom during preschool hours.

Hi, my name is Shannon and I’ve
been working at Gan Haverim since April of 2008.
I am currently a child
development major at Sacramento State University. I will be graduating
in the fall of 2009. I have worked with young children for several years
now and I really enjoy spending time with them and learning more about
them. I hope to continue my education and become an elementary school
teacher some day.
Shannon is a part-time
teacher in the classroom.

Hi, my name is Megan and I am
currently a kinesiology student at Sacramento State University. After I
graduate in May of 2009, my plan is to go into nursing where I would
like to pursue pediatric oncology.
I have been working at Gan
Haverim since October of 2008. I have really liked getting to know the
children at Gan Haverim.
Megan is a part-time teacher
in the classroom.

Hello, I’m Rachel and I taught
kindergarten and second grade in New York City for 7 years before moving
to Davis with my husband and preschool aged daughter.
I have a master’s degree in
Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of
Education. In addition to teaching at Gan Haverim, I direct the Extended
Day program at Davis Parent Nursery School. I spent a decade as a union
organizer before deciding to work with children – or as I like to say, I
decided to organize shorter people!
Rachel is in the classroom on
Tuesdays & Thursdays.
